"What the flip is GDPR?"

the small orgs' guide to data protection

Know you should be doing something about data protection but don't know where to begin?

This workshop is your starter kit for tackling it!

Wed 25 March
with Christina Poulton

If you have a mailing list...
If you hold contact details for participants or people you support...
If you have spreadsheets full of names and emails for different events...

If you hold people’s personal data, then as an organisation you need to to look after it and use it in the right way.

And yes, as far as I know none of us are out here buying dodgy mailing lists or selling people’s data to telesales companies.

But we still have a legal responsibility under GDPR (The General Data Protection Regulations that cover stuff in the UK).

So let's get to grips with:

✅ All the terminology, like “legitimate interest” versus “consent”
✅ When and how you are allowed to collect and store data
✅ What you should be doing with all those spreadsheets

One of my favourite things is going deep into the matrix of policy, procedure and legal jargon, and pulling out the bits that actually make sense for small organisations.

So if you have “sort out data stuff” on the list for your small charity, CIC or community org: come and join me for a getting-to-know-you party with GDPR.

For £35 you will get

A live workshop plus lifetime access to:

1. A training session explaining the essentials

We will make sense of the fundamentals of data protection and GDPR, and the legal stuff that actually applies to your organisation.

2. A practical checklist

A clear list of what you need to do to get your data protection ship-shape.

3. A data audit template with examples

A tool for recording and planning:

What personal data you hold
Why you are holding it
How you use it
What you need to do about it

So instead of vague panic about GDPR, you leave with clarity and a plan.

Plus you can ask as many questions as you like in the Q&A community, and you get to join Sticky-note Squad, which is my free email support for small organisations doing great things.

Sticky note with a quote on which says: Thanks again, you broke through a lot of the jargon and big business words which absolutely terrified me when I first started researching by myself!
Screenshot of message saying: Thank you for making GDPR fun - who knew that was possible?! I appreciated how you made it accessible, easy to understand & feel that I can confidently take this into my practice.

Who are you?

Hi, I’m Christina (she/her).

I work with charities, CICs and community orgs to make your work easier to manage and fund. There’s more about me here.

I have run and fundraised for many organisations, as well as setting up the policies and procedures from scratch.

I’ve worked with hundreds of people on their organisation set up, governance, management and strategy. In my previous life running a charity, I volunteered to do the research and report back for a whole group of organisations when the GDPR stuff first came out. So I focused on making it accessible, clear and action focused. That's what you'll get with this training.

When you run a non-profit, you’re often doing it all – and often by yourself. If that's you, then you’re in the right place. Get some support and your questions answered!

What about access?

Any visual information in the slides is also repeated verbally. The captions for the recording were checked for clarity and accuracy by me, rather than just AI and the full transcript is available. The resources will be in text pdf but I can provide things as pure text doc if preferred. The templates are provided as Google sheets and can be downloaded into Excel or a text based table if that works better for you. Contact me if you have any questions.
