Free guest workshop:

How to create HR policies that match your values

Fri 2 Oct

With Liam Barrington-Bush and Taz Rasul from RadHR

As part of my support to make your work easier to manage and fund, I offer guest workshops; with brilliant people who share their time and expertise on a specialist topic.

This time it’s how to shake up your policies (and get loads of templates that match your values)

RadHR have created an amazing free website and community where people share their radical policies for anyone to use. You can find examples of all kinds of HR policies which are focused on care, equity and supporting people: including safeguarding, grievance, leave and pay policies. Plus guides to things like recruiting more fairly.

In this workshop they'll

🤔 Help you work out how your policies can be a place where you include your organisation's values

🧱 Build your confidence to shape your own policies using the wisdom and perspectives you already have in your organisation

🧰 Share some DIY tools to help you create policies, and get inspo and advice from the RadHR policy bank and free guides

Traditional HR policies are a bit of a Trojan Horse - you think you are receiving the gift of organisational infrastructure, but what sneaks in with it is a bunch of oppressive ways of doing things that reinforce wider systems of who does and doesn’t have power.

Pay policies that privilege those with the most formal education; ableist performance management policies; the list can go on….

But what might alternatives look like? If you’re interested in creating organisational policies that reflect values around care, equity, transformative justice and liberation, come explore what this might mean with RadHR.

When?
Friday 2nd October, 10.30am–12.30pm (2-hour workshop)

Where?

Online- sign up below and I'll send you the zoom link on the day

What about if I have access needs?
I'll set up Zoom so captions are available. Any visual information in the slides is also repeated verbally. Breakout room discussions are optional- if they don't work for you, you don't have to join. Most RadHR resources are available as PDFs and GoogleDocs or HTML text. If anything isn't accessible, let us know and we'll try to improve it. We will have a short comfort break in the middle of the 2hr session, but also encourage people to pop out if they need to for any reason. We encourage people to have their cameras on, but recognise there are a range of reasons that might be less accessible and always support people to make the choice that feels right to them. We will share the agenda in advance and the link to the slides afterwards.

Message me for any other access queries.

Will it be recorded?

Guest workshops aren't recorded but we usually send resources or links from the speaker on email afterwards and I share a write up with top tips from the session.

Who are you?

Hi, I’m Christina (she/her).

I work with charities, CICs and community orgs to make your work easier to manage and fund. There’s more about me here.

I have run and fundraised for many organisations, including £4.2 million+ in successful funding bids.

I’ve also trained 1500+ people in fundraising and organisation set up. My training and resources are always action focused, jargon-busting and high energy so you get the info you need and your questions answered.

When you run a non-profit, you’re often doing it all – and often by yourself. If that's you, then you’re in the right place. You also get access to my regular email support- Sticky-note Squad, when you sign up to this workshop.
